Wordpress Blog Setup

These are the standard parts of my blog setup package. Of course, nothing’s written in stone, we can work out the details of your blog’s specific needs.

1) Blog migration. I’ll move any existing blog from the previous installation—Blogger, Typepad, Wordpress.com, anything that can be migrated. If you’re not sure, ask!

2) Wordpress setup: Getting all the little things set up—name, permalinks, timestamp, etc. I can also suggest some Admin section themes to customize the look of your back-end experience.

3) Plugin search and upload: Don’t have time to find plugins and upload them? Include this in your package or purchase one-time plugin assistance/setup. I have a basic list of useful plugins which I can add to your site (and activate or not as you choose). If you’re looking for a specific type of plugin, I should be able to find it for you (if they make it).

4) Minor to moderate theme design modification: I have experience with both HTML and CSS (as well as using PHP for Wordpress template tagging) and particular experience modifying Wordpress themes. If you have a theme in mind or need help looking for one, just let me know. I can modify the heck out of any theme to suit your needs.

5) Feed setup: Need a feedburner account set up or modified? Confused by the Feedsmith plugin? Moving to another site and unsure of how to switch over your feed source (so your subscribers get the posts from your new blog)?

6) Sidebar setup: Helping you optimize your sidebar for users. Suggestions what to include (or not) and where to put it. Based on my usability testing experience, blogging experience, and discussion with other site designers/bloggers about what works for them.

We can also discuss sundries like domain registration, hosting, etc. I’m willing to work those out for you as well, if you’re feeling unsure about the whole thing.
